Hi GUIRV team members

I received this request on the WEBLOG - would be great if something is looking for a project to do that they might like to address Adams questions. That is, to provide some pictures and about what Youth do in town and Youth actively involved in local events. The questions you might ask:

What do young people do in town?

And what are the youth specific events that are held in town?

Maybe you have pics from your own collection of you and your friends at FREEZA (or other) events? If you send them  (or any pics or text) to me via my email I can post them up on the WEBLOG for others to see in a Photo Album. Maybe you could put together a timetable over the past year of what events have been held and where... and maybe some feedback from others who attended the events. Cheers Karen

GUIRV research workshops feedback

Over the past two days we held student workshops in Heywood and Hamilton with students from your two schools Heywood Secondary College and Monivae Secondary College. You had the chance to try a number of different research techniques/tools including guided tours, photography, video interviews, surveys and behaviour mapping. How did you like it? Any feedback? Did you like being able to participate in collecting data yourself rather than reading about information others have written for you? Any advice to others about the techniques in case they want to use them in their own projects?

Project ideas for Growing up in Regional Victoria

Hi, this is Karen from RMIT - it is good to see the WEBLOG is already being used for talking amongst yourselves. In terms of your project ideas- when you get to the point of being ready to post something then post it as a comment on this posting. It need not be too detailed - around say 100-150 words. Let us know what you would like to research - possibly presented as a research question you'd like to answer or an issue you'd like to explore and how you would like to do your reserach work - identify a method or research tool or tools that you would like to use as part fo the project, for example guided tours, photography, video interviews etc... Once we have this information we will then be able to give you some advice on resources and some tricks of the trade!! You can continue to post thoughts on any of the forums on this WEBLOG and if you want to start a new posting around a particular topic (remember your resear ch project might incorporate the use of the WEBLOG) just let me know and I will put one up for you. Nice to meet you all over the past few days - and keep in touch.

what kind of future do you want?

Recently, we have seen death and destruction flashed into our television screens, in our newspapers and across the airwaves. War, earthquakes, terrorism all have reeked havoc on the world's populations - particularly those in low income nations - the most fragile, the most vulnerable again seem to be hardest hit. For some it may feel like we are living in a world out-of-control - fear and uncertainty abound. But do we have to sit back and take the world that others construct for us? Around the world we also hear the stories of courageous individuals and communities who are endeavouring to design a future for all that is based on the principles of equity and humanity - is the world that you would like to be in?

My question to you as the young people of the world is:

What kind of future do you want?
